WHAT IS REACH REGULATION?
REACH (Registration Evaluation Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is an English acronym defining the system of registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals.
In other words, it ensures strict supervision and monitoring of the use of chemical substances in the European Union since it came into force on 1 June 2007, in order to ensure that products placed on the market are compliant.
WHAT DOES THIS REGULATION GUARANTEE?
This regulation is based on different principles:
- Protection of man and the environment against chemical substances.
- Safety of employees handling chemical substances.
- Inform the customer and guarantee them product quality without risks.

ORPHÉE BANS ALLERGENIC MATERIALS FROM ITS JEWELRY /
In the field of jewelry, 3 main materials called "heavy materials" are harmful to health, which can consequently cause allergies when used.
- Nickel : the most common allergen but also the most used, especially for your white gold jewelry. Therefore, it is important to check the composition of your jewelry with your jewelers. Its rate must not exceed 0.05% of the weight of the jewelry.
- Cadmium : is carcinogenic when present in high concentrations and in prolonged direct contact. Its level must not exceed 0.01% of the weight of the jewel.
- Lead : can affect the respiratory tract when present in high concentrations and in prolonged direct contact. Its concentration should not exceed 0.5 when in direct contact with the skin µg per square centimeter .
